Motors:

There are two kinds of motor work, rebuilds and race motors. A rebuild is just that, putting a motor back to its original condition. Sometimes that means just a piston and rings in a two stroke, or a complete set of valves in a four stroke. Not all rebuilds are the same, not all shops do the same thing when they rebuild a motor. We like to say we only do things one way -“The right way.” We take the time to measure each piece that we are working on to make sure that it is within proper specifications and we try to advise our customers about what parts are the most likely to fail and will therefore need to be replaced. Rebuilding motors from top-ends to bottom-ends is one of most popular services that we do on a regular basis.

The other kind of work is building race motors. A race motor is any motor that is either modified by changing one part to an aftermarket part, or grinding of a head. There are many levels to race motors and we try to take the time to see what kind of motor each customer wants. Some people want just a little more power for their hill climber and other customers want a fire breathing monster that will smoke anything off the line. The difference between each is substantial. The biggest difference is the amount of money you want to spend and how much you anticipate spending in the future. A motor with just a slightly higher compression piston will usually take away only a little bit of reliability and longevity. A fully stroked and bored motor will need race gas and may need to be rebuilt every 5 hours of running time. But there is a lot of space between the two price points and we can help you figure out what you want and what you can expect.
